Product Overview

CyberSoft PhileSplitter is an award-winning file splitter utility used to split files or folders into smaller pieces, which can later be re-assembled to make the original file. The pieces can then be placed onto disks or placed on a website, and can later be re-assembled to make the original file(s).

Why use a filesplitter?

File splitting utilities have lots of uses, and here are a few examples...

• Splitting a 15 MB file into floppy-disk sized pieces to transfer from one PC to another, or a 2 GB file onto several CDs or ZIP disks
• Making a very large file available for download on a web site in small chunks. People can download each chunk and then re-assemble the original file. This way they don't need to start again from the beginning if anything goes wrong. Many servers do not support download resuming, and many people don't have resumers installed. With PhileSplitter you can make a simple BAT file people can download with the pieces to re-assemble the file(s) and even generate a web page with hyperlinks to the pieces
• Backing up data onto removable disks

How is PhileSplitter different from a compression program?

In many ways, PhileSplitter is similar to the compression / archiving utilities out there. Many of these utilities also offer splitting / disk spanning. PhileSplitter also offers compression.

In PhileSplitter however, the emphasis is on splitting, and the way in which files are split is much more customizable. Plus, via plug-ins, you can do cool things such as generate web pages with links to the pieces, and BAT scripts that re-assemble the file(s) without needing a copy of the program or other EXE file.
